New Orleans Mission Trip (Oct, 2008)Twenty members of St. Mark's and St. Matthew's went on another mission trip to New Orleans for the last week in October this year. New Sign Dedication (Sept 7, 2008)During our regular worship service, we took a brief hiatus to go outside the church building. Why? To dedicate the new East wall sign that was given in memory of Dale Allerding. Multi-Parish Gathering (May 17, 2008)On Saturday May 17th, several parishes came together at St. Mark's church to celebrate the recption and confirmation of new members of the Episcopal church. The service was officiated by bishops Chilton Knudsen and Stephen Lane.
The Mt View Chamber Singers (May 13, 2008)Once again, St. Mark's hosted the Mt. View Chamber Singers. These talented men and women have visited several times before and always make excellent use of the church's great acoustics. See more media from their previous visit. New Orleans Mission Trip (Oct 29-Nov 3rd, 2007)Over the week of October 29 to November 3, Rebecca Grant and Alicia Kellogg lead twenty-two members of St. Mark’s Augusta, St. Mathew’s Hallowell, St. Barnabas Augusta, and St. John the Baptist Thomaston on a mission trip to New Orleans to help the Episcopal Diocese of Louisiana’s rebuilding efforts. Everyone came home with numerous stories. Diocesan Convention (Oct 25th-26th, 2007)The 188th annual diocesan convention of the episcopal diocese of Maine was held on October 25th and 26th at the Bangor Civic Center. The delegates were charged with the very important task this convention: elect a bishop coadjutor as Bishop Knudsen's successor. The election of Stephen Lane was carried out with much thoughtful prayer.
Harvest Brunch (Sept 30th, 2007)In what is hoped to be a yearly celebration, the congregation came together for a wonderful harvest brunch after Sunday service on September 30th. Everyone enjoyed a delicious brunch and lots of good company and discussion. As a surprise, retiring administrative assitant Anita Raymond, was given a small token of the congregation's appreciation for her many years of service. Ice Cream Social (June 30th, 2007)St Mark's second annual Old Fashioned Ice Cream Social was held on June 30th. Thanks to great people and good weather, we had a wonderful outdoor event with good food, great musical entertainment, kids games, vintage cars and more. Deacon Ordinations (June 23rd, 2007)On June 23rd, three new deacons were ordinated at St. Luke's Cathedral in Porland, Maine. One of the ordinated deacons was Deborah Mckean, who spent several months at St. Mark's during her ordination process. St. Mark's Choir Retreat (June 6th, 2007)A St. Mark's choir retreat was gratiously hosted at a beautiful rental on Bailey's Island. It was a great time to relax, have some good food, and talk music. The Eleventh Annual Organ Concert (May 20th, 2007)On May 20th, St. Mark's Church held it's 11th annual organ concert. This year the concert featured Ray Cornils of the City of Portland, First Parish Church and UCC in Brunswick.The Mount View Chamber Singers (May 15th, 2007)On May 15th, St. Mark's Church again hosted the Mount View Chamber Singers. These young men and women have been to St. Mark's Church many times before. This concert comprised 17 songs (including well known favorites "Elijah Rock", "Scarborough Fair", and "Ave Maria") taken from the singers' expansive repertoire. If you have never heard these young folks perform, you are missing a wonderful experience. 2007 New Orleans Mission Trip (April 9-13)In April 2007, Senior warden Rebecca Grant, and visiting Deacon candidate Deborah Mckean took part in a mission trip to New Orleans. Along with the bishop Chilton Knudsen and several other members of other parishes they helped to continue the effort to rebuild and repair the damage done by hurricane Katrina. If you are interested in joining us or making a donation, please contact the church office. 2006 Celebration of New Ministry (Sept. 10th)On September 10, 2006, Elizabeth Miller was installed as the new reverend of St. Mark's. It was an exciting and joyous occasion for all parts of the greater St. Mark's family! A wide array of visiting clergy, relatives, and friends filled St. Mark's walls with fervor and voices of praise. After the service, Elizabeth greeted many of the parishioners and her family. A wonderful reception followed and the celebration of new ministry was happily continued by everyone in the Parish house's great hall. Food, family, and friends combined and a great time was had by all. Click any thumbnail below to enlarge the image. 2006 Patronal Festival (Apr. 25th)The St. Mark's church patronal festival was a wonderful chance to visit with Bishop Chilton, past rectors and interims. It was also a day to celebrate the confirmation, receiving, and reaffirmation of vows of several members of our congregation. Dinner in the parish hall after the service offered a wonderful chance to visit with new and old friends alike. Some special announcements were made and gifts were given to the past rectors of St. Mark's Church. 2006 Murder Mystery Dinner (Mar. 25th)Our murder mystery dinner was a huge success! Around fifty eight dinner guests attended St. Mark's Church to enjoy a night of great entertainment and fabulous food.
